Why can't Malaysia companies be just like those advance countries? It's all about money, status, competition, etc. Life shouldn't be like this. It seems that if I can't finish my work I would be giving bad impression to my immediate boss and that wouldn't look good at the end of the year where my performance will be judged. The front part of the movie is really hilarious. Eddie Murphy can really act out the part that captivates the viewers heart. It's worth time spending reading from first page until last. It beautifully exudes the truth of life and powerfully moves the heart of readers. It is a true story between a teacher and a student. The teacher teaches the student things he ought to know but had somehow been forgotten. I believe these really applies to a lot of people who is too busy with life to glance through what is truly important or more important in what they are seeking for all this while.

Last but not least, for those who seek the truth, this is a book worth keeping and reading for all ages. Sometimes one’s gonna need cash in advance before his or her next payday. Sometimes life is gonna hit us with disaster, tragedy or emergencies which is totally out of one’s expectation. However, no matter what one’s purpose is for cash advances, there is always a choice for them where he or she wanted to get the help. Anyone?

The other day my friend gave me a book by the title "How to Be Happy". At first glance, the book looks rather attractive. It has a big smiley face on the the cover, with white background on the front and back cover. However, I found that the title was somehow over-used by other authors. If you browse through any bookstore you will be able to find such book with almost all having the same titles.

However, I still read through randomly the first few pages of the book and found that somehow this book is worth reading from the start until the end. Probably because I am the type that loves to read self-improvement books. Plus the wordings in the book and the thickness doesn't seem to look like it will take a lot of time to finish it off.

The more pages I read the more I felt the book is different from any other that I have read so far. It took me about half a day to complete (Ohh... I'm really a slow reader... need lots of time to ingest sometimes ^_^)

The title itself is plain and simple, which is straight to the point. It is easy to read and digest and would be suitable for all walks of life. Now I understand and starts applying it to my everyday life. True happiness comes from within.

BTW, this book is free and can be obtained from the website http://www.howtobehappy.org/
Anyone can use it for a happier life. And, I have started to inject the main point from the book to my brain and try to stick to it all the time. I am always truthful, positive and helping others. Hope it will... to you too ^_^

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ssilverchime.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-be-happy-anyone.html' title='How to Be Happy... I've chosen a combination of white and green... lovely!

My Sis Unlucky Day

My unlucky youngest sis met with robberies yesterday! The incident happened not faraway from my house area. My little sis went for tuition in another residence area which is only a short walking distance. After tuition at around 6pm, on the way home, from faraway my sis saw two Indians riding on a bike. One guy was holding a "parang" knife. Of course my sis was scared. Luckily the Indian guy did not really hurt her. There was a slight cut on her right left arm. However, the unlucky thing is my sis's tuition bag was stolen by the Indian fellow. Her books and her handphone which was kept inside the bag was lost too. However I would say that it's lucky that she's not badly hurt. Thank God for she's safe and still very much alive.

Loneliness

Each and every passing day I am getting more and more lonely. The movie starts off with how a boy and a girl bumped into each other and then become the best of friend for 10 years. However, I think it's rather impossible to me that both the man and woman, unattached, becomes best of friends for a decade! I mean to me, there must be a certain level or time where they will find each other attractive and eventually fall into each other's arms since basically, they are seeing each other daily! Well, maybe it does happen and it sounds impossible for me probably because such thing never occurs to me before.

However, I think somehow or rather the movie brought me a sense of reflection of what I've done for the past few years since I graduated from secondary school. I mean time really flies like nobody's business. Looking back, I felt like I have not yet achieved my dream when I should have two years back. I think it's time to "rearrange" my list of to-dos and the priorities of each. And most important of all, treasure every moment and opportunity there is, because there's no such thing as back to the past.

Back from Bali

I'm finally back from Bali. The trip was fantastic and we visited a few tourist attractions. It was amazing as almost all the Balinese is able to speak English rather fluently. The people are mostly Hindus and of course, they take pork. We stayed in Febris Hotel and from there, start to walk to Discovery Shopping Mall which is almost a kilometre nearby. Then, we walked to Jalan Kuta and pass by Hard Rock Cafe. However, as we walked along, me and sis stumbled upon something which was really funny. Here's the pic attached. Literal translation goes like this "Burn fish alive. If you don't believe, try it for yourself". Oh gosh, isn't that cruel? And I found it funny at the same time.. haha

Then we passed by Hard Rock Cafe. We dropped in to Hard Rock shop to get souvenirs for my eldest sis, who is a die-hard Hard Rock Fans. Then, we had our dinner at one of the roadside stall. The meal was so so and didn't expect much since the food is almost similar to Malaysia. Then, we strolled along the Kuta Beach and observed many surfers along the beach. From the beach we walked all the way back to our resort.

The second day was an early wake as we were going to travel to a few places that was about 2 to 3 hours of drive. We watched the Barong Dance and travel all the way up to Mount Batur at Kintamani to watch the famous volcano. The scenes were wonderful. The wind was cold and breezy and we actually had lunch at one of the restaurant.

The third day was rather tired and long journey. We visited a few attractions like the Gunung Kawi Temple and Monkey Forest. The most fun-filled day was on the fourth day. We went for watersports at Nusa Dua. We played Banana Boat, Fly Fish, Ski Jet and Parasailing. The most wonderful moment was parasailing where I was pulled up to the sky with a speed boat by a parachute. It was really a wonderful scene from the top overlooking the beach and the island, although it was only about 3mins up in the sky.

The next day immediately in the morning we had spa. The spa price was soooooo cheap compared to Malaysia! It was also a wonderful experience. The next day was an early flight at 7.50am! Although it was a tired trip, I never regretted for having wonderful and relaxing time in the island.

Travelling to Bali

Yahoo!!! I will be going to Bali tomorrow. This is my first destination this year. At last, it's time for me to break free from work. I've been quite stressed up and can't really concentrate fully on my work. Everything doesn't go much fine lately since the start of 2008. At least going off breaking off from work for a while would make me feel much, much better. Overall, the movie was quite good. But I think there's a bit similar to "Lord of the Ring" trilogy. However, it wasn't as good as "Lord of the Ring". It has four dishes in a plate. One of it was fruit salad with shredded lobsters. Second was steamed fish balls. Third was octopus and last one, sweet and sour pork ribs. Like any other Chinese dinner, subsequently we have Teo Chew Steamed Fish, Special Fried Rice, Peking Duck, Stir-Fry Prawns, Stir-Fry Vegetables with sprinkles of fried onions and others. Final one was a two-typed dessert, which consists of small lotus "pau" and crispy layers of pastry with pandan lotus paste filling. In Chinese, it is called "wo beng". Well, what can I say, it's one of my favourite dessert and tasted good... yummy =) !

Some final words, I spotted a rather good-looking captain in that restaurant.. tada!

New shopping shop (Nichi!)

There's a new shop in town. And it's called Nichi! It's located at the Pudu area, and what area it is I don't know. Last time it was used to be the F&N Factory. I only realize its existence when I passed by the Pudu roundabout a few days ago. (Erm...is it called Pudu roundabout? Anyway, it's the roundabout that leads to KLCC). Seeing it from the opposite road, it seems like the shoplot is rather big compared to other Nichi shops! Come on shoppers, let's browse through that shop and have a look! The environment was good, but the restaurant is not that big itself. It probably can accomodate not more than 50 patrons at one time. However, the music and the feeling once one is inside feels very much warm-welcomed in an Italian Restaurant environment. We quickly ordered a Cabonara Turkey Ham Spaghetti, a Bolognaise Spaghetti and an 8-inch pizza. As for drinks, we ordered two milkshakes, one is Tuscan Milkshake, and the other one, Vanilla Milkshake. It came to my knowledge that Tuscan Milkshake is milkshake blended with Oreo Biscuits.

In about 15mins time, all the food we ordered we served. The pizza looks great and tempting. It's a combination of chicken, chillies, olives, green capsicums, and some other herbs with thin crust. However, the best food on the table was still the Carbonara Spaghetti. Well, it is also one of my favourite pasta of all time. Wherever I go, I would definitely place order for Carbonara pasta. At the end of the meal, the bill came with a whopping price. It was around RM80 plus. However, I think the price is fair enough. All in all, if you're an Italian Restaurant fan, it is a worthy place to dine in. Cheers =)!

Happy Mother's Day!

It's a double whelming celebration for my mum and grandma! On the 11th of May, which was yesterday, we celebrated grandma's birthday and at the same time, it was our Mother's Day celebration as well. We had a great dinner and invited friends and extended family members to join the great celebration at Overseas Restaurant at Jalan Imbi. Altogether, there were 40 headcounts attended. We had a great meal together and everything went out smoothly as planned. Well, finally the bill came and it was almost a whopping 3K! As Father's Day is just around the corner as well, we bought a pair of "couple watches" for mum and dad! Of course it was all smiles when they saw the gift! Guess mum and dad really had a great surprise on this! As for grandma, each of us grandsons and daughters gave her angpows (that contains cash money of course)... All in all, it was a great night celebration! Last but not least, "Happy Mother's Day to all great mums out there! I won a pair of seats to meet renowned Chef Curtis Stone. He is famous for the author and host of Take Home Chef, featured on Discovery Travel & Living on ASTRO. The dinner was held on 22nd of April, which was on last Tuesday. The dinner was held at Hilton Hotel, the one just opposite the KL Sentral. The dinner served was extremely mouth-watering. I felt the honour to be served in such a way - the dishes were served individually and were recipes from the reknown Chef himself.

It was held in one of the grand ballroom, with approximately 10 tables. Each table consists of 10 seats. There were 2 entrees followed by a main dish and lastly, a desert of tempting chocolate cheesecake were served. The entrees consists of mushroom with wonderfully mixture of cheese toppings. The second entree was prawns. What delighted me was the sauce that were served together. It has lemony taste with delighted one's senses. The main dish was marinated chicken, lightly grilled with a small amount of pasta served. Towards the end, there were chocolates served as well, arranged nicely on a beautifully decorated plate. In summary, never in my life so far that I've tasted such delightful meal.

Besides that, each of the guests got the chance to see him perform on stage LIVE! Although he only performed a meal, it was already fantastic and wonderful. Towards the end, there were Q&A by the Chef and whoever won were given away with prizes.

Another great moment each of the guests got the chance to take personal photos with the Chef. Of course, mine was taken and the photo still stays on the desktop of my workplace => Of course, I would love to win such event again, if there's any in the future =>

Team Building at Penang

It's almost been a week since I last drop by my blogs. I was rather busy for the past week, but with lots of fun. I went for a team building's trip to Penang, which was organised by my company. The trip was rather unexpected. We were told almost a few days before to get prepared for the trip. It was more on learning the objective's of the company, targets and sorts like that, but I'm getting lots of fun out of it but minus the long journey in the bus. There were almost 180 staffs going at one time. We were provided with bus transport rather than taking planes =( Well, can't expect more than that since there were so many staffs going at one time.

Went there for 3 days 2 nights. Took off early in the morning at 7am, having breakfast at 6am (can you imagine having such an early breakfast? Have to, otherwise nothing to eat!) woke up at 5am! It took almost 6.5hrs to reach our destination. Finally, after arriving at Bayview Resort, we got off the bus and immediately went for our lunch. We were damn hungry! After an hour of lunch, we went to the Grand Ballroom to attend for the big forum by our company's director. Well, it was rather a boring and sleepy session. I really fell asleep for 5mins!

After the forum, we were ready to be posted to our rooms. Me and my other close colleague were placed on the ninth floor. The view from the balcony was fascinating! We can the swimming pool from our room =)

We were given sufficient time to rest and get ready for Gala dinner! We were sorted to groups which consist of staffs from other departments of whom I've rarely seen and known, although we are all under one big company. The food was fine. What was greatest were performances on the stage! Groups were called up by the DJs to sing, dance and perform on stage with a given specific task to do. Some were to grab wild and crazy wigs, then dance on the stage. It was really a funny and humorous sight! All department's managers were called up too to dance on the stage floor. I was lucky as my group escaped from the stage fright thing... haha...

Later into the night, it almost got each and every staffs on the go go for floor dancing. Well, after a long journey, we finally got back to our own rooms and rest, getting ready for tomorrow activities.

The second day was rather hard for me. Morning call started at 5.45am! Whoa, that was too early. I felt like I haven't gotten to rest at all. Nonetheless, we still need to get off for our first activity. We were bused to a conservation forest. From there, we were greeted by a group of team building from other company, known as "Hashers". All the staffs were divided to about 18 groups, each consist of 9 to 10 people. Each group were to go through 3 activities. My group was to go hiking in the forest for 2hrs. Each group were to carry a big watermelon and 3 eggs. The watermelon was supposed to represent our company, and the eggs were our customers. Therefore, none of those must be broken. Finally, after going through the ups and downs of the forest, we were to move on to the second activity. And that was to create a pontoon out of 6 big buckets, 6 planks and a few long, strong strings to tie up everything. After almost struggling for 1hr to get build the pontoon, we were ready to set off to the sea with our own-made pontoon! 3 persons were chosen to sit on it (I was one of them!) to get it stable and ship off for about 300meters off and back to the shore. Luckily, we got it balance and manage to get it on the shore, safely!

After that, we went off for our lunch. It was raining at that moment, and there were no shades to cover the rain while having lunch. So, basically, our meals were covered with raindrops, haha! That was really a first experience! Well, after almost half hour break, we were ready for the third activity. The third one, was to find spices and cook a curry meal ala caucasian style! Well, guess what, I was the cook! Almost everyone tasted the curry and said it was really good! Yikes, I never believe I was a good cook... hahaha...

And so, the most adventurous day was over. We were all wet, dry and wet again. After getting some rest in our rooms, it was time to go for dinner. We were bused to Gurney Drive for a good meal. There I had assam laksa, rojaks, fried eggs with oyster, etc. What a full, great meal we had! The rest of the time we spent chatting away with colleagues in the rooms. After that, we went back to our rooms for a good night sleep.

The next morning was a tiring one due to the forest hiking. My thighs really ache out of the results of not getting enough exercise on normal days... hehe... After breakfast, we get a quick stroll along the beach and chatted away with a few colleagues. Then, we went to another forum at the Grand Ballroom. This time, it is the closing forum. Then, it was time to get on the bus and have a safe journey back to KL (and another 6.5hrs to go!)

All in all, the trip was a wonderful one. Never had I thought that such a small trip to Penang would bring such enjoyment...

This year resolution

Year after year, it has been my practice to set certain resolutions. This year, I have vowed to myself to eat healthy and spend more time exercising instead of spending time on the couch in front of the TV. However, so far, I have not achieved what I wanted to target. However, I guess I have improved a lot compared to the last few years. I don't even exercise for a month. And whatever I put into my mouth was something far from healthy, like fried food, fast food, sweets, pastries etc... But those things, sometimes, even if I'm thinking about it now, is so damn tempting. Even with a clear mind, I believe one definitely can't get away from their tempts to eat their favourite food. However, I'm getting to visualize

Besides wanting to get fit and healthy, I also aim to reach greater happiness this year. The topic happiness is rather subjective, which depends wholly on the individual him/herself, how would he/she defines in its own terms. As for me, I wish to have a happier and healthier family. Healthier family means I want to advise my family to eat healthier. Happier family means create a more harmonious environment, like laugh all that we can, caring for each other and etc.

Well, I guess that would be one great challenge throughout this year!

Second visit to Ah Yat

Yesterday, I spent dinner with my family again in the same restaurant that I've visited two weeks ago. And of course, it's Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant again at Avenue K, near KLCC. This time, it was much suprise. There were a lot more patronisers compared to the last visit. There was a birthday celebration as well by another family. This time, instead of having individual sets, we have set menus for 6 pax. The meals served was totally different from the individual set. In within less than 10mins, we were immediately served with the first dish.

First of all, we have four different types of meat served in a big plate which consists of porks, barbequed porks, jelly fishes and ducks. The best one was the porks and barbequed porks. Next we have the sharks fins and soup, a bowl per person. That was really yummy. Then the third dish is the abalons with mushrooms. Yummy! Of course, there's no other restaurants that serves abalons like Ah Yat. Then, we have fried crab clams with bread crumbs. This is rather unique as it has three layers. One can taste the crab in the inner layer. The second layer consists of prawns and fish meat. The outer layer would be the bread crumbs.

Next, we have stir-fried prawns with sweet and sour taste which is equivalent tasty. The sides of the plate were decorated with little prawn heads, stuffed with some meat and salty sauce. The next dish that comes around is fried fish with soya sauce. Up to this point, all our stomach is already two third full. However, the food taste just so good that we are unable to resist the temptation. The next round is the fried rice sprinkled with small fried anchovies. So, each bite has the crispy effects that I believe all ages would love.

Finally, it was the end of the meal. The last two dishes served are desserts. We have sweet dessert boiled to the perfect taste with red beans, almond nuts and some beans (which I'm not too keen on the names). The other dessert served is two-types of pastry in lotus paste. I bought a cheese cake for her with writings on the top "Happy Birthday, Sis!". The cake was delicious! It was bought from one of the most famous fresh and cheese cake shop in KL, with lots of branches throughout Malaysia. Of course, there's no other places other than SECRET RECIPE. The cake we have is a blueberry cheesecake with lots of blueberries topping on it, with fresh cream cheezy cheese...Yummy! The shop sells a lot of other cheesecakes flavours, like Cheeze Choc, Chocolate Cheese, Apple Crumble Cheese, Lemon Cheese, Classis Cheese, Cappuccino Cheese, Oreo Cheese, Marble Cheese, and the list goes on. Well, of course all these are my favourite cheese cakes! Apart from cheese cakes, the shops sell brownies as well, which are equivalently delicious.

One of the best dinner this year

Yesterday night was the greatest dinner we ever had! To celebrate my sister's birthday, my dad brought us all - the whole family, which consists of my grandma, dad himself, my mum, my eldest sis (her birthday!), myself, then another two younger siss....to have dinner at.... guess where.... Ah Yat's Abalone restaurant! Before this, the restaurant was located inside KL Swiss Garden Hotel and near Puduraya. Recently they had shifted to inside Avenue K building, just opposite the Suria KLCC Twin Towers. The atmosphere of the newly opened restaurant was fantastic. The decoration was a combination of contemporary Classic Chinese restaurant with blendings of modern day Western restaurant, which I think, was a fantastic place for family's dinner or get togethers or even wedding banquets.

Ok, let me start with getting the meals ordered. At first we were deciding to have a set dinner for 6 pax. But after a few minutes discussions among all, we have decided to take the set per pax instead as there were more choices of selections, and the pics of the food looks good on the menu! We have decided to order 5 pax sets, consist of 2 sets of 78++ and 3 sets of 98++. We felt like the servings and the services from the staffs were really good too. In within 10 minutes, the first sets of dishes were served. I thought that was rather quick. The first dish we have roasted chicken wings stuffed with chinese rice "loh mei fan" and also tofu with duck meat.

After we have finished the first sets, the second dish immediately came without us waiting more than a minute. We had fins boiled in a soup together with mushrooms. The third dish was the best one, and it would be the dish that everyone's waiting for. The abalons, of course! Slurp slurp~~^_^. The last dish that came were the desserts. There were yam sago dessert, which is one of my favourites! And then there were honeydew sago and also black sesame desserts. And the they said save the best for last! What do we have? Little egg tarts with bird's nest on it! Yummy yummy! Take a look at the pic I've uploaded.

All in all, the staff of the restaurant are friendly and efficient. A restaurant worth to visit again! But of course, all these nice things come with a pricey bill - but it's worth it. However, there's only one thing which is not worth credits for. This only thing is the ladies and gents... whereby both shares the same one, and there's only one and only. However, if one were unable to queue or wait long, there's always the building's restaurants that one can go. But though it will be quite a distance especially for those elderly people. But still, I will not hesitate to patronize the restaurant again!

The fall on my knee....

It's been almost a week since my fall on my knees. Still, I don't see any much improvement on the affected area (that is, my knees!) I'm still having a little discomfort moving around, and of course, especially sleeping. I have to sleep with face-up position the whole night through in order not to affect the medicine's that I applied on the knees. As my skin is a bit on the sensitive side, that is why it's taking longer time to get healed. I've tried using a Chinese external application medicine that I have bought during my trip to Beijing, China, two years ago. Althought the medicine was a bit pricey, I have realized that at least it is not up to no use at all. It's working fine on my type of skin too.

Before this, my right hand was scalded while I was ironing my shirt. (Yeah, another clumsy me, always hurting myself physically) Of course, the pain on my hand was unbearable although it was just a stroke on the outer layer. But imagine your skin touching the hot iron on high temperature! By the way, as soon as I was scalded, immediately I applied the medicine on the affected area. The feeling was rather nice and soothing because of the nature of the medicine which is cooling - but although in between there were feeling of pain beneath the scalded area. It's like after a week or days or so, the scalded area looks fine. Although there is a scar, but it is barely seeable. I'm quite happy with the result, but of course, if it can be like before it was scalded, that would be better. But all in all, it's quite a relieve as I know that I am truly one clumsy, careless fellow... =>

Life's lessons

Recently, I have gone through two bad experiences that I would
never ever forget in my entire life. I realize that I would not
be able to feel how it would be like to be in someone else's
shoes when they have almost the same problem as mine. Before
this incident happened, I thought that I would be able to
understand how it feels and the effects if I go through the same
events or incidents to those people whom I can say, going
through unlucky days. I thought I could feel their anguish and
their pain. But I was wrong. I realized I was all totally wrong.
When it happened to me, I realize it almost took up all my
life's purposes. I'm not eating well, not sleeping well, felt
extremely painful and angry, and felt like there's no more
purpose in this life. It's not that I had wanted to commit
suicide or whatsoever, don't be mistaken. It's just that I felt
like I'm haunted by the incident forever and thought I would
never ever be able to let it go. The pain and anger was such a
big blow that all my future plans is like going down to the
drains. It is like all totally gone, like no life purpose to
move further.

The event happened out of my own stupidity. As I thought back
all the clues that links to the incident, I realize that how
stupid I have been! Even a small kid would be able to realize
that it should be something weird about it! How tremendously and
greatly stupid I am!

However, after a few days I have thought through this, I realize
that it was because I have put too much trusts on something that
I should not have done so in the first place. I was referring to
it as "something" when it should be a person. It is because I
know that that someone should be treated something. It is
totally not humane at all. That person does not have a heart at
all. Although I have done what I should do, I believe that the
authority in KL would not be doing anything at all since all
these while they would not have done the same thing even if
there are loads more of people out there complaining the same
incident to them. One just have to be alert, detailed, and smart
to realize the stupidity that will occur and the consequences
out of the action.

Although the event that occurred to me was really a big blow to
me, but, on the other hand, I thought that God wanted me to go
through this because it wanted to let it happen to me. I realize
that after going through this incident, I am more alert, careful and would not do things impulsively. I will be more aware of my actions and consequences. I have also learnt that things happens for a reason and as hours and days go by, I slowly learned to let go of the incident.

However, one thing for sure is that I know God will punish whoever that does not have a good
heart. God will punish the people who have done something so wrong to hurt another person so deeply.

Out of this, I have learnt a few of life's biggest lessons.

#1: To be faithful to God.
#2: Families and true friends will always be there for us when we need them the most.
